When it comes to exercise if you’ve never exercised before, it's easy to become overwhelmed. But there are some simple ways to create a more well-balanced life and get your body moving! Here are our favorite tips.
Have a reason
One of the best things that people can do to get motivated is to think about why they want to exercise. Are you in it to lose weight? Do you want to be more flexible? A reason to get moving is a great reminder of why you want to exercise in the first place when you need a little push.
Build up
When you start exercising for the first time, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Instead of intending to hit the gym every day, opt for scheduling just a handful of workouts. This is a great place to begin. Try to move every day, even if it’s just a short walk, to allow your body to heal while also upping the amount you move.
Hold yourself accountable
Being dedicated to your new workout routine is a great way to start exercising, but it your motivation might wear off, and you find yourself making excuses to skip your next workout. Try and stick to your routine. This is where a buddy system can help, as they can help you get motivated to complete your workout for the day.
Early bird or night owl?
If you're a morning person, getting up at 6 am every day for a run might just be perfect for you. But we all have our preferences, and this is an easy way to put yourself off the idea of exercise. So try to experiment with exercising at different times of the day to find what suits you the best.
Try different workouts
If you’ve never tried working out it can be difficult to know what type of routine you like. Who knows; you might fall in love with weightlifting even though the idea isn’t something that speaks to you. Trying several classes is a great way to experiment and see what works for your lifestyle.
Don’t overdo it
While it can be great to think about where you want to be in a certain amount of time, it’s unrealistic to think you’ll get there immediately. Instead, think about smaller goals and focus on each workout as it comes to keeping things manageable.
