Adidas and fashion retailer Gap have ended their cooperation with Ye with immediate effect. The reason for this decision is the rapper's recent anti-Semitic statements.
Ye had been working with the German sports brand since 2015. "Adidas does not tolerate anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred. Ye's recent statements and actions are unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous," the company wrote in a statement. That means no more Yeezy line products will be made and no more payments will be made to Ye and his companies.
For Adidas itself, the decision also has negative consequences. The company is expected to lose about $250 million in revenue due to the termination of the partnership.
Ye recently came under fire. The artist made anti-Semitic statements in several interviews and on social media. As a result, his accounts on Twitter and Instagram were blocked.
Previously, the fashion house Balenciaga and the American agency Creative Artists Agency ended their collaboration with the artist.
Gap immediately removes all Kanye 'Ye' West clothing from the range
Fashion retailer Gap is immediately removing from its assortment all clothing designed in collaboration with Kanye 'Ye' West. Gap has also taken the webshop YeezyGap.com off the air.
"Anti-Semitism, racism, and hatred in any form are inexcusable and, in keeping with our values, will not be tolerated," Gap wrote on its website.
Ye's lawyers recently reported that the artist had broken off his collaboration with Gap because the retail chain allegedly failed to honor agreements. Gap claims to have put Ye on guard himself.
