Elon Musk Plans on Selling All His Homes

Last weekend, Elon Musk announced he plans on selling all his possessions including all his homes. When asked, he simply tweeted “Freedom”.

According to Forbes, Musk is estimated to be worth $38 billion. He added that one of his homes was originally owned by Gene Wilder which is on the market for $9.5 million. There is one stipulation to this home, it may not be torn down or lose its soul.


The description of the home states it was formerly owned by Gene Wilder, best known for his role as Willy Wonka. The home is a unique and charming ranch style home. The 2/3 acre property overlooks the 13th green and 14th fairway of the Bel-Air Country Club Golf Course.

The house offers 5 baths, 5 bedrooms, a pool, and a detached guest cottage. There are no photos provided at this time. The main house is approximately 2,800 square feet. According to property records, this home was listed for $7.995 million but was sold to Musk for $6.75 million in October 2013.


Another one of Musk’s homes, listed on Zillow, is going for $30 million. It’s a 16,251 square-foot French Chateau with 6-bedrooms, 11-baths in lower Bel-Air The home was build in 1990 on a 1.7-acre lot and supposedly has a 2-story library, theater, wine cellar, pool, fruit orchard, lighted champion tennis court, a 5-car garage with a motor court, and other amenities. In January 2013, Musk closed on the property for $17 million which took place 10 months before Wilder’s house. The home has extensive renovations since then. At this time, there are no interior photos.

Bel-Air is known for having some of the most expensive, high-priced homes in Lost Angeles. To date, the most expensive property is on the market for $165 million for a 20-bedroom, 23-bath home sitting on ten acres. This home has also been owned by celebrities.
