Even though they came from completely different backgrounds, they just seemed to fit together. But that was because Amy didn’t know who Lance really was.
Deserving Prom King And Queen
Amy was smitten, and she felt that the fact that they were named prom king and queen meant that they were meant to be together.
She started building dreams of the two of them and the future she felt they were meant to have. But she never considered that Lance was hiding things from her. And that would be her ultimate downfall.
Hope For The Future
Amy had all these hopes for the future. She was sure that she and Lance would attend the same university, where he would study whatever it was that he wanted. And she would become the surgeon she always wanted to be.
She was sure he’d marry her one day and give her the life she thought she deserved. And he gave her every reason to feel that way.
Life Seemed Perfect
In Amy’s eyes, life was perfect. They were well on their way to making all her dreams come true, and in a matter of years, she’d be exactly where she wanted to be.
Because of that, she gave herself to the man she loved. And that was her biggest mistake yet. Lance was about to show his true colors, and they weren’t pretty.
Feeling Sick
A few weeks after prom night, Amy woke up feeling incredibly sick. She was nauseous and had pains in her stomach. But the worst part was that she couldn’t keep anything down.
She called for her mother with the hope that the professional nurse would be able to make her feel better. But after a few attempts, she realized that she was all alone.
She Didn’t Want To Believe It
Amy sat down and tried to gather her thoughts. What would her mother do or say if she were there? That was when she realized something she didn’t want to believe.
When these symptoms arose in other female patients, her mom would always ask them if they were pregnant. The thought alone was enough to send Amy rushing to the bathroom again.
Taking The Test
Amy was shocked, but she also knew that it was a possibility, and the timing seemed to add up. So she rushed to the nearest pharmacy and got herself the most accurate pregnancy test she could think of.
Before she knew it, Amy was back at home. She took the test and anxiously waited for the results, praying that they would come back negative.
Moment Of Truth
Five minutes had passed, and Amy knew she couldn’t wait any longer. But the young girl was afraid of what she would find. She wasn’t ready for that.
The air rushed from her lungs as she peered down at the result. “Positive.” That was the only word she could get out as she sank to her knees, along with her heart.
No Other Choice
Days had passed since she did the test, and Amy knew she could no longer hide the truth from her beloved boyfriend. Lance deserved to know. She thought as she waited for him to come out of class.
She had rehearsed the speech over and over again. But when those words left her mouth, they felt so alien. It was like someone else had said them instead.
Not What She Expected
Lance’s jaw dropped as he froze in his tracks. The look in his eyes could only be described as murderous. But it was what he said that hurt her the most.
Lance pushed his hand into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He gave her a stack of cash and said, “Get rid of it,” before storming off.
Left In Tears
Amy’s eyes stung with tears. She couldn’t believe that her best friend could be so cruel. The venomous words he said as he was walking away crushed her.
She never knew he thought of her that way. But that wasn’t even the worst part. It was his lack of compassion that hurt her the most.
What To Do?
“I don’t need a man to do what needs to be done,” Amy mumbled as she walked to the trailer park she called her home. She was a determined young girl who could do anything she put her mind to.
But it wasn’t long before reality set in. She might’ve been determined, but as soon as her mom found out she was pregnant, she’d be homeless. And there was nothing she could do about that.
It Wasn’t Like Her
So Amy decided to follow Lance’s advice, and she made an appointment with the clinic. But as she lay there, staring at the dark little dot on the ultrasound, she realized that she wasn’t that type of person.
She couldn’t harm her baby even if she wanted to. But Lance was a whole different story. He’d pay for what he did to her. She’d make sure of it.
Hopes And Dreams
Amy could see her hopes and dreams going up in flames. She could see her new life as a young, single mom who worked endless hours to support her infant.
But what else could she do? She would have to drop out of school so she could earn money. And that surgical degree would remain nothing more than a dream. Or would it?
