Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has called President Joe Biden “a damp sock puppet” after he wasn’t invited to a summit meeting this week.
A number of the top CEOs in the United States joined Biden for a meeting on Wednesday, where CEOs from both Ford and General Motors were present. Both companies were praised by Biden for increasing the production of electric vehicles. Musk, meanwhile, was not invited.
Biden shared a video about these efforts on Thursday, and Musk has expressed his frustration about Tesla not being mentioned. “Starts with a T,” he wrote. “Ends with an A. ESLA in the middle.” When one of Musk’s fanboys responded that it was “madness” for them to exclude Tesla from the conversation, Musk made his true feelings clear.

Musk wasn’t invited to a similar summit last year in August, but White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at the time they invited “the three largest employers of the United Auto Workers.” Musk holds a firm anti-union stance, which is likely a point of contention with the Biden administration. As the Washington Post reported in March 2021, the National Labor Relations Board found that Tesla had engaged in unfair labor practices and actively discouraged workers from unionizing.
Forbes reports that Tesla stock dropped as much as 11 percent on Thursday. Musk will have personally lost $24.5 billion from the drop in share value.
