Teen Writes Hilarious CV to Get a Puppy - Did it Work?

An 18-year-old girl from Sydney, Australia decided to take a different approach when it came to the one thing she wanted “more than anything in the world,” for Christmas: a dog.

Did Somebody Say PUPPIES?!

I mean, who wouldn’t want a dog with a cute little ribbon on it?

She wanted it so badly! Here's what she did:

The Snapchat Disappeared…But it’s Still in Her Memory!

Kayla’s family already has two dogs, but after her friend sent her a Snapchat of puppies that his cousin’s dog just had puppies, she knew she HAD to have one of them!

I mean, three dogs are definitely better than two! But how will this play out?

Chores? Allowance? Pshh…Too Conventional

Some children beg while some children plead for a dog. Others promise to wash the dishes or clean their rooms for months. And some even offer to chip in for their potential furry best friend with their allowance. Kayla Severi had a different idea in mind.

PLOT TWIST! SAY WHAT?

Never Say Never…

After asking her mom in the conventional way (Mom, can I get a dog for Christmas? I’ll take care of it! I PROMISE!), Kayla was flat out rejected.

The exact words from her mom were that it was “never going to happen.” No ifs, ands, or buts. BUT, Never say never…

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Kayla then got creative… She knew that she couldn’t just go out and buy the puppy on her own.

"I live with mum, so at the end of the day it's her house and her rules and if she doesn't want a puppy, I won't be able to get one.

What a respectful daughter! Is her mom going to get her a dog or what?

Bills, Bills, Bills

Even the fact that she worked at her job as a pizza maker for over a year to save money for a puppy wasn’t enough for her mom.

Showing her responsibility and time management skills wasn’t going to cut it. What’s a girl to do? But really, what is she going to do?

Werk

Maybe writing down the reasons why she should get a dog, how she would take care of it, and the personality traits that would make her a good dog owner would work?

Turns out, not only is Kyla serious about getting this dog, but she also has a great sense of humor:

What Makes You Qualified For This Position?

Kayla presented her mom with not only a CV, neatly typed and all, but a COVER LETTER as well, formatted and all. Not Times New Roman font, but she still nailed it:

Let’s see what the judge (aka her mom) has to say.

But Wait, There’s More!

She even wrote an 800-word essay, which included STATS, as to how a puppy would boost her mental health, teach her responsibility (which it sounds like she already knows a thing or two about), and how to manage money.

Incredible!

There’s Still More?!

To add even more sweetness to this unique gesture, Kayla bought her mom’s favorite lollipops to sweeten the mood.

A little light bribery to rescue a pup sounds good to all of us, don’t you think? BUT did it work?!

Flexin’ Hard

What mother would be able to say no to her daughter after she just showed off her research skills and professional flexing capabilities?

Well, Kayla’s mom said no…at least at first. How could she?

Never Say Never, But…?

“Hell No!” were her mom’s exact words. She even burst out laughing at the gesture. She was in shock and could not believe her daughter’s “application” to adopt a dog.

But does Kayla get the puppy?

Hella Good Writing

After giving the cover letter and CV a closer look, Kayla’s mom could not resist the poetic justice of her daughter’s cover letter, which included phrases such as “hella money” and “I am your favorite daughter.”

What a schmoozer!

She Swore on Cheesecake!

She even included “I solemnly swear on cheesecake and all things holy” to really get her point across and of course, added that her “best quality is love and kindness.”

Was her presentation all that, and a slice of cheesecake?

Please Respond in a Timely Manner, Mom

The conclusion of the cover letter takes the cake.

Kayla, the professional negotiator that she is, ended with 'Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my application, and I hope to hear from you shortly.' But was she a qualified candidate?

Did She Get The Dog?!

Kayla has an adorable Staffordshire bull terrier puppy named Bandit!

One quote from Kayla says it all: “I honestly didn't expect my idea to work, but figured it was worth a try.” You go, Glen Coco...I mean Kayla!”

It’s a Dog’s Life

At only nine weeks old, Bandit will experience the “love and kindness” that Kayla has to offer, and hopefully he will even get along with the family’s two other dogs!

It’s definitely a dog’s life, and it’s going to be a good one for Bandit. But wait, there’s more!

Watch Out, Parents!

Kayla has one piece of advice for all her fellow dogs' lovers out there.

"I'd definitely recommend this to other kids for their parents. It worked on my mum, so you never know - it could work on other people too!"
