Spending time on social media when you're on vacation might sound like a waste of time. But social media can be used to your advantage and can come in handy when you travel. Here are some helpful tips on how to utilize social media to make the most of your next trip.
Facebook: look for local events and travel groups
Facebook can be an extremely useful tool for finding local events. Make sure to turn on your location and let the events feature in the app work its magic. It’s a great way to discover live music shows, festivals, and other events that might be cooler than the generic tourist attractions available. Another great Facebook tool to use is the travelers' groups. Are you looking for any tips or recommendations and don’t know anyone who’s been? Type “traveling in (wherever it is you want to go)” in the Facebook search bar and screen for groups. Join the relevant groups that'll pop up and ask everything you want to find out!
Instagram: look for attraction
Instagram can be used for so much more than just stalking your ex. The app can be surprisingly helpful in finding cool attractions around you if you just use your geotag. Not sure what a geotag is? When you click on the app’s search bar, the line below it has a filter titled “places” you can use. Type in your location and discover all the cool places in your proximity.
Pinterest: look for relevant blogs
Pinterest can be super helpful in planning a trip as well. With the unlimited amount of travel blogs available to us, all you have to do is type your destination into the search bar and take your pick. You’ll get an abundance of packing tips, food recommendations, and useful local phrases.
