As one of the most groundbreaking and popular TV shows of the early 2020s, “Tiger King” managed to grab a huge amount of interest globally. To many, the whole ordeal was a hard thing to watch – if engrossing in a rubbernecking kind of way. One of the ‘stars’ of the show was Carole Baskin. In the Netflix documentary, we see how strange and unique the world of big cat handling can be.
The whole scenario is very strange. In the show, we see Baskin who comes across, at first, as loveable and kind – someone who genuinely cares about the animals. We also learn that her ex-husband, billionaire Don Lewis, is missing. What has happened since the show ended, though?
Baskin recently took part in Dancing with the Stars, a popular reality TV show where people from popular culture take part in a dancing program. During the second week of the show, Baskin opened up on the damage the show had done to her reputation and her health. It is clear in her tearful moments with dance partner Pasha Pashkov that she is unhappy, and that the accusations are too much
The disappearance of her ex-husband is an ongoing thing, and it was here that the family of Lewis hold Baskin responsible. He went missing in August 1997, his van was found abandoned at an airport, and his family has long held Baskin responsible. She claims the Netflix documentary is an incorrect appraisal of who she is.
She was ejected from DWTS in just the third episode, after getting some pretty poor ratings from the people involved. She has since spent more time doing two things she loves: working at her cat shelter, and promoting Republic party politicians.
At the moment, she appears to just be getting on with life. However, there is a long-hanging cloud that is going to linger over Baskin. For as long as she lives now, she will be associated with the controversy of Tiger King as much as anything else.
