6 Tips To Help You Become a Morning Person

Are you an evening person, but would still like to experience the benefits of a productive morning? Then try these 6 tips.

Great morning ritual

It is motivating to create a morning ritual that you really look forward to. If exercise is not your thing, a morning workout will not motivate you to get up earlier. Maybe you like to enjoy a cup of coffee at your leisure while reading the newspaper or a book. Find something that inspires or motivates you to get out of bed earlier. Choose an activity that offers relaxation.

Make a list

There are probably a lot of things you don't feel like doing in the morning, but still need to get done. Make a list of these things and see if you can possibly complete one of these activities the night before. If this is not possible, you may be able to prepare some things in advance. For example, think about making lunch or cleaning your kitchen/living room/bedroom. That way you won't have to spend as much time in the morning on activities that don't make you happy.

5 minutes earlier

If you really want to become more of a morning person, it makes sense that you will also have to go to bed a little earlier. You don't have to rigorously go to sleep two hours earlier, but you can start with five minutes. If this works, you can give yourself a compliment and a few days later you can try going to bed ten minutes earlier. This way you can adjust your sleep rhythm little by little each time.

Let in the light

As soon as you wake up, try opening your bedroom curtains to let the sunlight in. This will not only make you feel more comfortable mentally, but you will also notice that you have the more physical energy to start the day. In the winter season, you can also use a light alarm clock because the sun may not be up yet.

Habits

If you are not a morning person by nature, getting up earlier will be difficult in the first few weeks anyway. Try to accept this and remind yourself that it will take several weeks for your body to get used to this new rhythm. Give your body time and get up around the same time on weekends as well.

Dare to say no

A regular sleep rhythm is good for your health. This is why it is important to dare to say no if someone expects something from you in the evening. If your boss regularly asks you to do extra work in the evening, it is wise to guard your limits. This also applies, of course, to personal appointments. Make sure you have time for yourself in the last few hours before you go to sleep so that you can fully unwind.
